What’s up!? Its Scooter I got some really cool info the past couple weeks. Found a great local band, Forrest Williams, and I got to see some of my New Orleans favorites, Big Daddy O and Eric Lindell.
Let’s start out with the local band Forrest Williams. From Conway Arkansas now living in the area for about two years, Forrest and his wife, Pherrel, play everything from Pink Floyd to Johnny Cash. The other night he closed with Imagine by John Lennon. It was a perfect way to end the night. My brother Corbin remarked on how eclectic they are in the types of music they play. I love the style they bring, from Forrest looping his music to give us more and the sweet sound of the bongos coming from Pherrel. They are a very enjoyable band and I would definately see them again so, make sure you check them out. You can find them at Stinky’s Fish Camp, Salty Dog Saloon, Mango’s and the Funky Blue Shack. Make sure you check out some of their music under the "local music" link.
I don’t know if you know of Big Daddy O, but you need to. He comes into town once a month. He never goes more than two months away from the sandy white beaches. The last place that I saw him was at the Funky Blue Shack in Bay Town. Big Daddy O always brings a crowd and you never know who’s going to play with him. I really enjoy when Kenny from Dread plays. Big Daddy O is from New Orleans, and a man who is 6 feet plus that will amaze you with the way he can sing the blues. Next time you can see him will be July 24th and the 26th at Salty Dog Saloon.
Last week, a group of us went out to Pier Park in PCB. Eric Lindell played at their free concerts on Thursday on the green lawn. Some of you might remember him from Capos. What a show! We had a blast. We had friends in from out of town who really loved Eric. When I go to New Orleans, I always try to find out were he’s playing. It’s been so hard to find him. He plays everywhere, traveling from the East coast to the West coast. I believe the Washington Post said it best with "Terrific, tasty rock ‘n’ soul with a New Orleans twist."
